THE 3RD ANNUAL NATIONAL UNDERWEAR DAY IS NO "Brief Affair"
Leading online underwear retailer Freshpair.com teams up with 2xist men's underwear to support the National Prostate Cancer Coalition (NPCC).
NEW YORK, NY (August 3, 2005) - New York City will be invaded on August 10th for National Underwear Day. Making its appearance for the third year in a row, the unofficial holiday has generated much attention to the "unmentionables." Following tradition, models will be taking over the city during rush hour and lunch time to spread the word about the holiday. They will make appearances in highly visible New York City locales - including Times Square and outside Penn Station - polling passersby on their choice of skivvies and asking people to sign a petition that urges the official recognition of this annual panty pride occasion.
Although the goal is to recognize a new holiday, a new meaning has surfaced this year. National Underwear Day is now supporting the National Prostate Cancer Coalition. This year, in addition to demonstrations around the city there will be a mobile unit sponsored by 2xist, the NPCC and Freshpair.com to educate people about the prostate cancer disease. Visitors of the unit will have the opportunity to speak to an NPCC representative about the disease, receive information on the NPCC and pledge to get tested. The aim is to get 500 pledges from men who will vow to get tested before the year is over.
2xist men's underwear chose to use this day as a way to shed light on the organization and their mission. Last year 2xist conducted a celebrity underwear auction to raise money for the NPCC. Brad Pitt, Usher, Gabrielle Union, Hilary Swank, Nick Lachey, Sheryl Crow among others supported the cause. In 2005 2xist will be pursing every effort toward educating the public on the National Prostate Cancer Coalition and prostate cancer starting with National Underwear Day.
